 Uploading Back to VEP

Detached Editing allows Editor subscription users to 'check out' data in DATAMARK VEP to edit in an offline environment, and then upload it back into VEP. This is done by drawing a polygon on the Web map around the area to be edited while offline.

Caution - When editing offline, it is important to maintain any related tables as VEP is unable to provide maintenance during offline editing. Edit, add, and delete related tables records to keep the tables in line with the GIS data.

Detached Editing Overview

1. Select the Deatched Editing tool from the widget toolbar.

2. Click Checkout Polygon to draw a Boundary around the area to be checked out.

Note: Data within the polygon cannot be edited in VEP until the detached editing session is uploaded back into VEP or the session is deleted.

3. Fill out the informational fields:

Name - Name the edit session.

Checkout Date - Auto-populates with the current date and time.

Anticipated Check-in Date - Provide the date the edit session is expected to be uploaded back into VEP.

Comments - Add comments for other users to see when viewing the session from the View and Manage tab.

4. Select Layers to be included in the Detached Edit download.

Note: Only data that falls completely within the detached editing polygon will be checked out. Features that intersect the polygon boundary will not be included in the download.

5. Click Save to apply the Detached Edit Boundary to the map and lock down the data. It's now ready to be downloaded

View and Manage Sessions

1. Click the View and Manage tab to review currently locked Detached Edit sessions.

2. Review the Detahced Edit information and Zoom to the locked boundary.

3. Check the box in the Select column of one or more sessions to include them in a deletion.

4. Click the Delete button to remove the locked boundary from the map without uploading the edits back into VEP.

Note: The View and Manage tab will display an Editor's own checked-out sessions. For Administrators, the table will show all checked-out sessions for each user in their organization, allowing Administrators to manage the sessions if needed.
