Admin Tool Overview
The Admin tool is only available to Administrators to review all edit sessions and uploads submitted by other users in their jurisdiction. Administrators may approve or reject the changes made to the data.
1. Select the Admin widget from the widget toolbar.
2. Choose a tab to review:
Edit Reviews - Submitted edit sessions
Upload Reviews -Pending uploads
Approval Requests - Previous version approvals
3. Filter and Review submitted edit sessions or uploads.
4. Update the status of the entire version, using the Update Status dropdown. Then, click Apply.
- To change the status of a single feature, see Filter and Review Functions below.
5. Click either:
- Post Edits to apply the edit session or upload to the VEP data.
- Reject Edits to send the edit session back to the Editor for review. Rejected uploads will be discarded.
Once the review is complete, submitters will receive an email confirming the approval or rejection response from the Administrator.
Pro Tip: Add comments to edits that will be rejected so the Editor understands why the edits were not approved by the Administrator.
Note: If any feature in an edit or upload has a rejected status, the entire session will be rejected. Editors will need to resolve rejected edits before the session may be applied to the data.
Filter and Review Functions
The Admin tool provides the following fields and functions to filter and review edit sessions and uploads:
Filter By:
Feature - Filter features by Feature Class
Status - Filter features by approval status
Zoom: Click the magnifying glass icon to zoom to the location of the feature.
Details: Click the table icon to minimize the Admin tool and review the new attributes of the feature and its related tables on the map.
External NGUID: Shows the unique record identifier for the feature.
Type:
Add - New features
Update - Features that had attribute changes or were updated spatially
Delete: Deleted features
Edit Actions: Shows the type of edit applied to the feature.
Feature: Displays the Feature Class of the feature.
Comments: Use this field to add comments for the Editor to view if the feature is rejected.
Created By: Shows the name of the VEP user who submitted the edit session or upload.
Status: Click in the field to change the review status of the selected feature using the drop-down.
Approval Requests
Click the Approval Requests tab to review the following fields for approved edit session and uploads:
Session Name - The name of the edit or upload session.
Session Type - Lists if the version was an edit session or upload.
Date Created - The date that the version was posted.
Details - If an version fails to post, the details will be provided here.
Status - When a version is approved, it will have a Pending status until it has finished processing. All completed posting with display Completed.
Caution: It’s best practice to make sure all approved edit sessions and uploads have a Completed status before running a new validation or download. Running these processes when there is a Pending status could result in inaccurate validations results or download data.
