Map Tools Overview
Note: Widget access is based on user role. Some widgets may not be available to all users.Tool | Description | |
 | Search | Search for and zoom to addresses and places. |
 | Zoom In | Click to zoom in on the map. Hold Shift and draw a rectangle to quickly zoom in. |
 | Zoom Out | Click to zoom out on the map. Hold Ctrl + Shift and draw a rectangle to quickly zoom out. |
 | Panning Tool | Click to navigate left/right and up/down. This can be used while in Select mode in the Edit tool. |
 | Default Extent | Click to go to the map home. To change the default extent, contact the support center. |
 | My Location | Click to navigate to the device’s current location on the map. Location sharing must be enabled on for this functionality. |
 | Edit existing features and create new features. (Editors and Administrators) | |
 | Review features rejected by Administrators, review validation anomalies, and review observations. (Editors and Administrators) | |
 | Review and approve/reject new and edited features submitted by Editors. (Administrators) | |
 | Place an observation on the map for Editor/Administrator review. | |
 | Turn on/off individual map layers and adjust their transparency. | |
 | Display the map legend. | |
 | Measure distance, polygon area, or obtain map coordinates. | |
 | Create, zoom to, and delete saved map extents. | |
 | Temporarily add points, lines, polygons, shapes, and text to the map. | |
 | Print or save a PDF, JPG, or PNG of the current map view. | |
 | Add temporary reference data to the map. | |
 | Identify map features by selection, query, and export selected features. | |
 | Create custom symbolized labels for VEP layers. | |
 | Change the basemap in VEP. | |
 | Section off data to download and edit in a local environment. The selected area will not be editable in the web map until the user uploads the edits back into the data. | |
