Layer List Overview | Feature Pop-ups

Use the Layer List to manage what layers are displayed on the map. VEP data layers, observations, detached editing polygons, anomalies, and map services can be viewed and managed from the layer list. 


Quick Tip: Some layers have zoom levels specified. If the layer is gray and not viewable on the map, zoom to layer or zoom in until the features are displayed.


Layer List Overview



1. Select the Layer List tool from the widget toolbar.

2. Use the expand arrow to view feature layer symbology or to expand a larger layer set.

3. Check the box to turn on the corresponding layer.

4. Additional options to view the Layer List:

  • Turn on all layers 
  • Turn off all layers 
  • Expand all layers 
  • Collapse all layers 

5. Additional Layer Functions:

Zoom to - Zoom to the feature layer.

Transparency - Configure layer set transparency.

Enable/Disable pop-up - Configure if pop-ups display for a feature layer.

Move up - Move a layer set up in display order.

Move down - Move a layer set down in display order.

View in Attribute Table - View the selected feature layer in the Attribute Table.

Hide/Show labels - Display or remove labels for feature layers that have labels configured.

Rename Layer - Allows a Hosted Map Service to be temporarily renamed.

Description - Displays the metadata for the applicable layers in a new browser tab. Sign in to the ArcGIS Portal with your VEP Credentials to view. 


Note: Functions are available based on whether a single Feature Class, a Layer set, or a Hosted Map Service is selected.


Did you know? Hosted Map Services can be viewed in the Attribute Table when View in Attribute Table is selected through the Layer List.



Feature Pop-ups

Pop-ups are small windows that will display the layer attributes a feature is selected in the map. 


Note: Pop-ups are enabled, by default, for Address Points and Road Centerlines.



1. View any Related Tables connected to a feature layer at the bottom of a feature pop-up. Click the Arrow icon to view the Related Table records.

2. Click Zoom to, to zoom in on the feature.

3. Additional Options:

Pan to - Pan the map to the selected feature.

Add a marker - Place a marker on the selected feature.

View in Attribute Table - Open the Attribute Table and view the selected feature

4. Maximize the pop-up.

5. Close the pop-up.


Did you know? Clicking on a placed marker will display the map coordinates of the marker.
