Map Interface Overview
1 | Search – Search for an address, place, or latitude and longitude and zoom to it |
2 | Navigation Tools – Zoom in/out, pan the map, return to default extent, and zoom to device location |
3 | Widget Toolbar – All Map Tools available to user based on role permissions. |
4 | Scale Bar and Cursor Coordinates – Display map scale the latitude and longitude position of the cursor |

Search Bar
Use the search bar to quickly navigate to a known location on the map:
1. Enter an address, street, city, landmark name, or latitude and longitude coordinates into the Search text box.
2. Suggested landmarks and cities will be populated in a drop-down.
Select a suggested address, or finish typing in the address in the search bar.
3. Press the Enter key or select the magnifying glass to perform the search.
4. The map will show the general area of that location which will be marked with a highlighted point on the map.
Click the Zoom To link to zoom in to the location.
Did you know? Geocode services can be used in the Search Bar after being configured by an Admin. Once a Geocode service is added, select it with the Search Bar drop-down.
Attribute Table
The attribute table shows all records within the feature classes and tables and hosted layers within VEP.
Click on the black arrow at the bottom of the map interface to open the attribute table.
Attribute Table Tools:
1. Options: provides various tools to interact with the attribute table.
Show selected records: Show only selected records in the attribute table.
Show related records: Navigate through built relationship classes to the related table (will automatically navigate to new table tab).
Filter: Create filters to apply to the selected Feature Layer.
Show/Hide: Show or hide columns in the attribute table
Export all to CSV: All selected records in the table will be exported to a CSV
2. Filter by map extent: When selected, only features within the map extent are populated in the table; when unselected, all features within the feature class are shown.
3. Zoom to: When a record is selected and Zoom To is clicked, the map will zoom to the selected feature.
4. Clear selection: When a record(s) is selected and Clear Selection is clicked, the records will be unselected in the table.
5. Refresh: The Refresh button may be clicked when removing or adding filters or panning/zooming around the map to refresh the map interface.
Filtering in the Attribute Table
1. Open the Filter window by selecting Filter in the Options menu of the Attribute Table.
2. Choose to Add Expression or Add Set:
Add Expression will allow the user to create 1 filter.
Add Set will allow the user to create 2 simultaneous filters.
3. Once Add Expression is selected, three drop-downs will appear:
Select a field name from the feature class/table opened in the Attribute Table.
Select an operator to create the filter.
Input a field value to filter.
Click on the cogwheel to open the Settings for field values:
Value - Allows users to manually enter a value in the field.
Field - Use to find features where the value in one field matches the value in another field. Use the drop-down to select a second field for the expression.
Unique - Retrieve a dynamic list of values from the layer. Begin typing to use auto-populate for searching values. If the value is not listed – click Search More.
Multiple - Select to filter multiple values in the field. This is only available while using is any of or is none of operators.
4. Click OK to apply the filter.
