Custom Reports Overview

Custom Reports are designed to give VEP users and business owners key metrics to evaluate how VEP is used by their organization, the progress of anomaly remediation, and where resources are engaged in maintaining addresses, street centerlines, and emergency service boundaries for their jurisdictions. Only System Administrators will have access to Custom Reports. 

1. Select Reports > Custom Report in the Navigation Menu.

2. Configure the following settings:

 Report Name - A file name will be auto-populated with a unique ID, and the date will be appended to the end. This can be changed by the user.


Note: The Report Name only supports speical characters #, _, and -. Special characters may not be used at the start of the name. File names have a character limit of 50.


Date Range - Add a date range from which to query. the Not required for Latest Validation Run - By Jurisdiction or General Metrics reports.

Metric Reports - Check the box by the report type to include it in the download. For more information on what is contained in each report, see below.

3. Click Download Report.


The user will automatically be redirected to the Download Requests tab.


Download Requests

1. Select Reports > Custom Report in the Navigation Menu.

2. Click the Download Requests tab.

3. Optionally, select a date range and click Search to query the reports by date.

4. Click the Download Icon in the Action column to export the report.


User Metrics Reports

The user metrics report provides insights into key user activities and shows metrics for the full geospatial maintenance lifecycle within the VEP environment.


The user metrics report includes the following fields:

  • Username
  • Login Frequency
  • Role
  • Total Login Time
  • # of Additions
  • # of Deletions
  • # of Observations
  • # of Exceptions
  • Edit Session Approval
  • Most Recent Date of Edit Session Approvals
  • Edit Session Rejection
  • # of Uploads Approved
  • Most Recent Date of Upload Approvals
  • # of Downloads
  • # of Validation Runs
  • Most Recent Date of Validation Runs

Edit Metrics Reports

The edit metrics report allows users to view edit sessions in three different tab formats - Session Summaries, Session Details, and Data Summary - within a specified period. These reports are only available for Editor subscription users.


The edit metrics reports include the following fields:

Session Summary

  • Status

Session Details

  • Name
  • Status
  • Number of Updates
  • Number of Deletions
  • Number of Additions
  • Created By
  • Reviewed By
  • Date Started
  • Date Submitted
  • Date Closed
  • Number of Days Open
  • Data Summary

Observation Metrics Report

The observation metrics report allows users to view observations submitted to the administrator for review, additional details on those observations in addition to the decisions made, and feedback provided by the administrator on those decisions.


Observations Report includes the following fields:

  • Title of Observation
  • Status
  • Submitter Comments
  • Reviewer Comments
  • City
  • State
  • Submitted by
  • Reviewed by
  • Date Submitted
  • Date Closed

Latest Validation Run-By Metrics Reports

The latest validation metrics report allows users to view validation anomalies, by the latest run-by date and by jurisdiction or city. The full report group consists of five tabs, which include the following fields.


Individual-Incorporated Municipality

  • Latest Run Date
  • Validation Results

Individual-Validation Summary:

  • ** Last Login
  • Jurisdiction
  • Feature Class
  • Number of Anomalies
  • Total Feature Count
  • Percentage of Total
  • +/- Change (Previous Run)

General Metrics Reports

The General Metrics Report allows users to view Active Edit Sessions, in VEP and Detached, and not yet submitted to the admin for review. It includes several other aggregate counts by user activity and user observations that provide a holistic view of key application usage activities.

The Reserved Street Names report provides a cross-reference check for future planning by showing streets awaiting construction within a jurisdiction.

The Latest Uploads Field Mapping report will detail the most recent one-to-one and approved field mapping for each data element (i.e. Native-to-NENA schema) uploaded to VEP.
