Automated Upload is a premium feature that allows users to directly upload data to VEP from ArcPro without needing to log into VEP.
Download the Automated Upload Tool
To begin using Automated Upload in ArcGIS Pro, the Automated Upload Tool must be downloaded to the user’s local environment.
Start by downloading the ‘DATAMARK MBI Automated Upload Tool’ file:
1. Log in with your VEP credentials here to download the Automated Upload Tool: https://vep.datamarkgis.com/AutoUploadTool/
2. Click Download to export the file
3. Unzip the downloaded file and move it to a file folder of your choice. The unzipped folder will contain three files:
DM Upload Tool.pyt - The ArcGIS Pro Python Toolbox for executing the tool.
Read Only - The configuration file containing settings for the tool.
DM Automated Upload Tools - The Automated Upload ArcGIS tool.
Configure the Automated Upload Tool in ArcGIS Pro
1. Launch ArcGIS Pro.
2. Open the Catalog Pane.
3. Right-click on the Toolboxes folder in the Catalog Pane and select Add Toolbox.
4. Navigate to the DM Upload Tools.pyt toolbox from the unzipped folder you previously downloaded. Select it and click OK.
5. In the Catalog Pane, double-click on Toolboxes > DM Upload Tools.pyt toolbox > DATAMARK Automated Uploads Tool to open it.
6. Use the browse folder icon to create a file pathway to the desired Geodatabase or SDE in the Upload Geodatabase field.
- To enable markups in the upload, check the Include Markups in Upload option below the Upload Geodatabase field.
- If this checkbox is marked, users will see the Markup Geodatabase field. Click the folder icon to browse to the geodatabase. This will upload only the layers in this selected geodatabase that are named ‘MARKUP_POINT’, ‘MARKUP_LINE’, ‘MARKUP_AREA’ and/or ‘MARKUP_TABLE’.
7. Click on the Run button if you want to execute the tool immediately. Choose Schedule from the Run dropdown if you want to execute the tool at a specified time. Configure the following options:
Task Name - Assign a name to the scheduled upload
Recurrence - Assign a frequency for uploads to run automatically
Begins On - Select a date to start the upload schedule
Click OK to set the schedule.
8. A confirmation message will appear after settings are saved under the run button in the tool:
- If an upload is scheduled, it will automatically begin based on the scheduled time. The extraction process may take a few minutes, depending on the size of the geodatabase being processed.
- If you have scheduled the tool, do not change, or remove any tool files from the file location, as this can affect the scheduled task's execution.
Delete/Edit/Pause the Scheduled Task
To manage the scheduled task after creating it:
1. Select View from the header ribbon.
2. Click Geoprocessing.
3. Click the History Tab at the bottom of the pane.

2. Double-click Automated Uploads.
The log file provides insights into the progress and status of the tool, ensuring you stay informed about the execution process.
