Measurement Tool Overview | Units of Measurement

Use the measurement tool to measure distance and determine the coordinates of a point on the map.

Measurement Tool Overview


1. Select the Measurement Tool from the widget toolbar.

2. Choose a measurement type:

  1. Measure Area - Create a polygon to measure an area.
  2. Measure Distance - Create a line or polyline to measure a distance.
  3. Display Coordinates - Place a point marker to display its coordinates.

3. Use the unit dropdown the change the display units.

4. Click anywhere on the map to draw a polygon, line, or drop a point. Continue clicking to add vertices and double-click to finish the measurement. 


Did you know? When placing a point, you can move the cursor to view the coordinates of both the placed marker and the cursor.


5. The measurement or coordinates will be displayed in the Measurement Results section.

6. Click Clear to reset the tool 


Note: Measurements remain in the tool until they are cleared, a new measurement is created, or the tool is closed.

  3. Display Coordinates:
    • Degrees
    • DMS
