The Change Log is a report that allows users to query the history of changes for features in VEP. Each time a System Admin takes an action to create, delete, or modify a feature and its posted to the database, the system records the action for historical purposes.
Changes are also tracked when initiated through the upload process. When a user uploads data, the system will log the change as an "Upload" with the additional marking of 'Add, Update or Delete', depending on the evaluation of the data being added as compared to the default database and the option chosen when performing the upload.

Edit & Apply → Add, Update, Delete
Delete & Repopulate → Add, Delete
Batch Upload → Add, Update

  • To pull a Change Log Report, navigate to the Reports tab in the left-hand frame. Choose the Change Log report.

  • The Change Log page will display in the right-hand frame under the Search Change Log tab.

The Change Log report will be prepopulated with all history available for the jurisdiction. The report output shows all available layers and their change history contained within each layer. Each layer can be expanded by clicking on the plus '+' button in front of the report title and the respective column headers provide descriptors for each edit field (i.e., Layer, Username, Edit Type, Modified Date, etc.). It should be noted that the column headers have the functionality to allow for sorting at the edit history level (child) within each layer, but it does not sort the individual layers (parent) themselves.

Search Change Log

  • To query the report, use the Search Criteria section to apply filters to the log.

  • To query down the history, choose an individual feature by filling out the External NGUID. To narrow down the history further for that specific feature or to select multiple features for a date range, click the From and To calendar buttons. To narrow further, select a user from the Username drop-down. Once satisfied with the query, select the Search button to initiate the query. Alternatively, the Reset button will clear the Search Criteria section.
  • The details will populate in the lower section of the screen. Each record represents a feature. The full history for each feature can be shown by expanding the plus sign.
